'Tis the season for joy, gatherings, and scrumptious treats! But what happens if you are wearing Invisalign aligners? Can you still enjoy the holidays and straighten your teeth? We've got your covered, just follow our simple 4 simple not-to-dos:
1. Don’t eat with your Invisalign aligners on
Chewing with your aligners on can cause them to crack or break, which can disrupt your progress. It can also stain them. For your comfort and to protect your aligners, always remove them before eating.
2. Don’t forget to stick with your Invisalign routine
You can enjoy your holidays, eat and drink all you want, and still have your aligners do the work to straighten your teeth for you. All you need to do is remember to put them back on. One tip we give our patients is to set a few reminders on your phone, especially when you are out and about.
3. Don’t forget your Invisalign aligners case at home
Wherever you go, your handy Invisalign case should go to. This way when you remove your aligners, out and about, you can keep them hygienic. One alarm a day for this can come in handy too.
4. Don’t forget to wear your Invisalign aligners for 20-22 hours
To ensure that Invisalign works effectively, it’s important to wear them as instructed. Make sure to wear the aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours per day. The constant pressure is essential to gradually shift the teeth. Remove the aligners only for cleaning and eating and pop them on straight after you finish.
And remember, you can laugh and take all the selfies and holiday photos you want, your aligners are invisible 😉
PS: While this is the Invisalign edition of the holiday season, don’t forget about your other dental needs during the season. If you need a quick check-up, dental hygiene appointment, teeth whitening or dental treatment, we are only a phone call or email away.
