Dr Abubakar Baana graduated from Queen Mary University of London, Barts and The London and has since built a focused career in endodontics and advanced restorative dentistry across a network of practices in London, Essex and the South East.

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics, with particular expertise in complex root canal treatment, including retreatment, tertiary endodontic care, and treatment under magnification. Sought after for this work, he operates across 8+ practices including Be Dental Clinic, welcoming both internal and external referrals and working closely with colleagues to ensure seamless continuity of care.

Alongside his endodontic work, Dr Baana has extensive experience in advanced cosmetic dentistry, full mouth rehabilitation, comprehensive restorative treatment, and clear aligner therapy, bringing the same meticulous approach and commitment to preserving natural tooth structure across every case.

Beyond the surgery, he is the co-founder of DentoCandy, a brand dedicated to making oral care fun and accessible for children. He is also a devoted father, tech whizz, an avid padel player, and regularly travels internationally to provide dental care to underserved communities, reflecting a longstanding commitment to service beyond the surgery.

Dr Yaman M. Walid, BDS MFDS RCS(Ed) MClinDent(Pros) MProsRCS(Ed). Specialist in Prosthodontics

Dr Yaman Walid qualified as a dentist from the University of Manchester dental school in 2005, after which he completed a year of vocational training in North Wales. After a series of hospital posts in oral surgery and restorative dentistry in the Yorkshire region, he was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

Dr Walid completed a four-year training programme at Guy’s Hospital specialising in Prosthodontics, after which he was awarded a certificate of completion of specialist training (CCST) in Prosthodontics and included on the General Dental Council’s specialist list in Prosthodontics.

In 2015 he was awarded a Membership in Prosthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, along with a Masters in Clinical in Dentistry (Prosthodontics) from King’s College London.

The speciality of Prosthodontics encompasses all aspects of aesthetic and implant dentistry as well as crowns, bridges and dentures. It also deals with all aspects of failing dentistry. With his specialist knowledge and expertise, Dr Walid will aim to restore your teeth and smile with natural looking and long lasting restorations using modern materials and up to date techniques.

Dr Walid has a passion for dental education and held a position as a Clinical Teacher in Restorative Dentistry at the Leeds dental institute looking after dental students in training. He is also one of a select few dentists in the London deanery who are responsible for training newly qualified dentists in their first year after graduation. He has delivered numerous hands-on training courses and lectures locally and nationally. He holds a post graduate certificate in health research, enabling him to provide the best possible treatment options for his patients, based on sound scientific evidence.

Outside dentistry, Dr Walid enjoys playing football and is a talented cook; otherwise he is busy looking after his young family.

Dr. Asan Hammad

My mission is to prevent any teeth being unnecessarily extracted.

Dr. Asan Hammad graduated from Queen Mary University of London in 2019, where he was praised for his kind, compassionate treatment of patients and his colleagues. He is exceptional at managing children and patients with anxiety. This is also where he formed a community of like-minded dentists who learn from and help each other.

Early in his career, Asan honed his skills alongside leading clinicians nationwide, cultivating expertise in oral surgery, cosmetic dentistry, aligners and endodontics. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Salisbury District Hospital, where he learned to manage complex emergencies and dealing with A&E on-call shifts. This is also when he was faced with extracting more irreversibly compromised teeth than during the rest of his professional career, which refined his preservation-first philosophy an experience that inspired his personal motto.

Currently, Dr. Hammad is advancing his craft through a Diploma in Advanced Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics at the Aspire Dental Academy.

Beyond the clinic, Asan remains committed to charitable oral-health initiatives across the UK and abroad. In his downtime, he pursues video editing a creative outlet that continuously sharpens his eye for dental aesthetics and detail.

Dr Ishtar Mahdi BDS (NCL) MFDS (GLAS)

Cosmetic Dentistry and Dental Sleep Medicine

Dr Ishtar Mahdi is a sleep medicine and aesthetic dentist, with a focus on holistic, preventative care that treats the whole person, not just their teeth.

She graduated from Newcastle Dental School in 2011 with clinical merit and completed her Faculty of Dental Surgery membership exams at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow soon after. Her early career across dental and general hospitals, including head and neck surgery, gave her a broad clinical foundation and a deep understanding of how oral health connects to overall wellbeing.

Sleep medicine & TMJ disorders
Dr Mahdi assesses and treats sleep disordered breathing and jaw pain disorders, two areas more closely linked than most people realise. Snoring, sleep apnoea, jaw pain, headaches, and teeth grinding often share an underlying cause that goes unaddressed when teeth alone are treated. She takes the time to find what is truly driving your symptoms, then offers effective, conservative treatment, working within a multidisciplinary network for complex cases.

For referrers: Dr Mahdi welcomes referrals for sleep-disordered breathing, home sleep tests and level 2 polysomnography, mandibular advancement therapy, bruxism management, and TMJ assessment, and is happy to liaise directly and provide detailed reports.

Aesthetic & general dentistry
Dr Mahdi offers a full range of aesthetic and general care, with extensive postgraduate cosmetic training and Invisalign provision since 2018. From whitening and bonding to aligners and veneers, the goal is the same: a healthy smile you feel good about.

Kimberley has extensive experience as a Treatment Coordinator/PA within both Dentistry and Cosmetics. 

Kimberley is incredibly passionate about customer service. Utilising her warm and friendly approach, she endeavours to make all patients feel welcome and at home within the Be Dental Clinic as soon as they arrive.
